Can you help to make Motorfest a great success?

-

THE Ormskirk MotorFest returns to the town centre on Sunday, August 27, and organisers are looking for volunteer marshals to join in the fun and make the event go smoothly.

Thousands of people are expected to enjoy the motoring extravaganza, which is one of the North West’s biggest free family events.

More than 300 classic and competition vehicles from all eras of motoring will be on display in Coronation Park and Ormskirk town centre.

Organisers are looking for marshals to help with the parade laps – which are due to take place from 12.30pm.

The Ormskirk MotorFest is a free event organised by Aintree Circuit Club, supported by West Lancashire Borough Council.

Cllr John Hodson, portfolio holder for planning, said: “Volunteer marshals play a key role in making the Ormskirk MotorFest memorable for everyone, and have a lot of fun at the event.”

Mike Ashcroft, Aintree Circuit Club chairman, said: “Volunteering to be a marshal is a great way to become involved in the MotorFest, so please sign up as soon as you can to become part of the team making this fantastic event a reality.”

Marshals will be on duty to assist vehicles to get out onto the parade route and will be positioned at locations around the course to ensure the cavalcade goes smoothly.

For the parades, volunteers will need to report to the marshals’ centre by 12.30pm as they will need to register first and attend a briefing before going out on post for 2pm and finishing around 5pm.

To volunteer to be a marshal, visit www.ormskirkmotorfest.com by August 20. The online registration form is in the registrations section of the website.

Marshals will receive an expenses payment of £20 and refreshments will be provided.

The website has a lot of other information about the occasion, as does www.westlancs. gov.uk/motorfest.

The Ormskirk MotorFest is in line with the Ormskirk town centre strategy, one of the aims of which is to have more events in the town centre.

Cllr Hodson said: “With many thousands of visitors expected to come to Ormskirk for the MotorFest, we hope that town centre businesses will take advantage of this great opportunity and open up on MotorFest day.”
