Something wicked this way comes . . .

-

HAVING visited Farmaggedon before, I felt prepared for the fear that was awaiting me – but nothing could have prepared me for the terror I felt when navigating the farm.

From the moment I took my first step into the land of Farmaggedon on Tuesday night, loud noises, heaps of fog, and strange faces swarmed around me, creating a sense of unease.

Many weird and wonderful creatures meandered through the venue, preying on anyone who displayed any sign of fear. No one was safe.

With four fantastic venues to choose from, I made my way straight for the Zombie Outlaw attraction – which allowed guests to fire paintballs at zombies that approached their vehicle.

It was brilliant. My fellow “soldiers” and I were taken around the farm looking for zombies, and we had to shoot them in the head.

The motto for this scare house is: “If it’s dead, aim for the head!”

The next house, and perhaps the one I found the most terrifying, was Contagion.

Wearing 3D glasses, I entered a house with narrow corridors and elements designed to make the disorientated.

Scary characters literally jumped out of the walls and 3D obstacles made me question the way out, or if there even was one.

The remaining two houses, The Meat Locker and Terror On The Farm are fairly similar, but each has its own different but equally terrifying characters waiting inside.

The actors are very convincing. It’s hard to remember that they are just “normal” people under fantastic make up.

Travelling around in small groups, with people you don’t know, only ramps up the fear of the experience – with unfamiliar screams coming from all directions.

It is hard to believe the world of Farmaggedon, which resembles what I imagine Hell looks like, is based within the family-friendly venue of Farmer Ted’s – quite a juxtaposition!

If you haven’t yet made plans for Hallowe’en, or if you are a fan of horror, you must give Farmaggedon a try.

The event, in Flatman’s Lane, Downholland, runs from September 30 until the end of October.

Although some dates have sold out, tickets are still available from www. farm aggedon.co.uk or 0151 526 0002. guests feel
