Puppet-based monster mayhem for adults and kids alike!

An introducti­on to new and exciting animals from around the world, The Cryptid Petting Zoo gives the audience a chance to interact with some very unusual creatures, including the extremely rare Mongolian Death Worm and the loveable Giant Beast. See these mythical monsters up close and learn more about them from our trained handlers, ask questions and learn how to care for the animals.

Fresh from their performanc­e at Glastonbur­y – this is one monstrous show not to be missed.

Bring spooky little monsters along to these two fun, free fancy dress parties from Starkidz. With lots of your favourite monsters and baddies and plenty of surprises, fun and games this is a brilliant party for all Hallowe’en lovers.

Starkidz bring the squeals in their usual energetic, giggle filled way. Expect singing, dancing, ghost-busting, crafts, face painting and more. Parties at 10.30am and 1pm. Lord Street, Southport. Part of Southport Hallowe’en Festival.

A giant 16-foot spider is all set to spark thrills and fear amongst Southport shoppers this Hallowe’en as it meanders through the streets looking for a playmate.

Arachnobot, the giant spider puppet, is a world first that has toured in America, Europe and Asia but is making it’s way to spooky Southport! An impressive lifelike creation, it wanders the streets looking for prey, or anyone brave enough to say hello.

This unique puppet combines a giant inflatable skin with a complex cable skeleton which controls eight independen­tly articulate­d legs.

The mechanism enables precise, lifelike movements controlled by a single puppeteer. Crowds will both be terrified and enchanted by the puppet as it navigates its way amongst the crowds looking for dinner!

1pm-4pm. Pumpkin Carving Skelmersda­le and Ormskirk. Just before Hallowe’en, people can enjoy carving scary pumpkins at Stanley Coronation Park, Skelmersda­le on Saturday, October 28 at 10am and also Richmond Park at 2pm.

Another session is planned at Coronation Park, Ormskirk at 2pm on Sunday, October 29. Booking essential. To reserve your place, call 01695 570258 or 01695 622794.

The pumpkins produced will then be dotted around Coronation Park on Hallowe’en night.

Town Hall Gardens, Lord Street. Part of Southport Hallowe’en Festival.

Join Harry, Dumbledore, Hagrid and Prof Sprout in a Battle of the Wizards, wand making and more. Their owl companions will also be joining them along with snakes, spiders and creepy crawlies.

There will also be the chance to be sorted into your House with the famous talking sorting hat and have your photo taken as a student of Hogwarts with Diana Celine Photograph­y.

11am-3pm. Hallowe’en Party

£9.95 per child, includes entrance, food and party, and one adult per child.

4pm-6pm. Hallowe’en Night Coronation Park, Ormskirk. Be prepared for fantastic frights and stupendous screams as scary creatures descend on Coronation Park, Ormskirk, for Hallowe’en.

There are plenty of scary goings on planned from 6pm8pm including scary walks through the woods with vampires, witches and ghosts.

Live Hallowe’en music will be provided by The Doctors, and Base Dance will be showing off their Hallowe’en-style dancefloor moves.

There will also be fancy dress and best pumpkin competitio­ns.

Children under 16 must be accompanie­d by an adult.
