Many people had to leave their homes because of the damage and did not return for a months.

It is the responsibility of residents to protect the property they live in, whether they own or rent.

The council is reminding residents that it does not provide sandbags, but its website provides advice on where to get flood prevention equipment and insurance.

Information to help residents decide if they should take steps to protect their property is also provided, as well as details on what to do if a flood occurs.
