Has your dog had its chip?

-

DOG owners are invited to a free health check event for their pets, organised by Dogs Trust and West Lancashire Borough Council.

The event will be held at Evermoor Hub, Birleywood, Skelmersdale, on Monday, November 27, 11am-3pm.

A veterinary nurse will carry out checks, including nail clipping, weight, teeth, eyes and ears to make sure dogs are happy, fit and healthy.

Dogs Trust will also provide free microchipping for dogs that are not yet chipped – subject to availability – and advice on diet, training and neutering.

By law all dogs must be microchipped and the owners’ details kept up to date. Advice will be provided on whether owners need to change the details on pets already chipped.

Each owner will be offered useful information packs on practising responsible dog ownership, which include handy tips and useful resources.

Free goodie packs are also available for puppy owners and those thinking of getting a puppy.

Cllr Kevin Wright, portfolio holder for health and community safety, said: “I would encourage all dog owners to come along to this event where their beloved pet can get a free health check and they can also find out more about responsible dog ownership.”

All puppies attending the event need to be fully vaccinated.
