TIME is running out to nominate special individuals and groups for the Your Heroes Awards 2018.

The annual awards recognise community heroes for their outstanding contribution.

We have once again teamed up with the ScottishPower Foundation to launch this year’s Your Heroes awards, to give recognition to the people who give so selflessly for others.

The Scottish Power Foundation is the official sponsor of the awards, supporting the glittering event to be held on Wednesday, January 24 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, in Southport, when our shortlisted nominees will be invited to a special night of celebration.

ScottishPower launched the foundation to reinforce the energy company’s commitment to charitable work throughout Britain. Its aim is to make a significant and lasting contribution to society and enhance the quality of life in local communities.

Nominations are being taken for five categories and the closing date for entries is tomorrow, Friday, December 15. The five categories are: Person of the Year. Young person of the Year. Team of the Year. Sportsperson of the Year. School of the Year. Andrew Brown, editor of the Southport Visiter and Ormskirk Advertiser series of titles, said: “Our Visiter website and our series of local newspapers are all about celebrating the many amazing people we have in Sefton and West Lancashire, and the wonderful things they do – which often go unsung or unrecognised.

“We need you to help us to change that.

“We want our readers to tell us about the person who goes out of their way to help or to inspire others – the people making a difference to other people’s lives – those who are making our community a better place for all.

“Nominating is easy. So, if you know someone who deserves a Your Heroes award, please send your entries to us today.

“Please help us to say ‘thank you’ to someone who really deserves it.”

Nominations will close on December 15.

To make sure you get your nominations to us in time, email them, with your name, the person, team, or school you are putting forward, along with contact details and a testimonial of up to 250 words, to: jayne.middle brook@trinity mirror.com, or you can message us with your nominations via the Visiter page on Facebook.
