DISRUPTION to some Merseyrail services is set to continue into the New Year.

Trains will not be running between Maghull and Ormskirk train stations up to and including this Sunday, January 7.

And on the following two weekends that section of the line will also be closed.

According to Merseyrail, the reason for the trains not running between those stations is “to assist with preparation for Maghull North station.”

Consequently, a rail replacement bus service will run between Maghull & Ormskirk to transport passengers to their destinations safely.

The bus service will take longer than the train usually would.

A spokesperson for Merseyrail said: “In order for Network Rail to complete essential track and construction works for the new Maghull North station, rail replacement bus services will replace trains between Maghull and Ormskirk between the 27th December and 7th January 2018.

“Passengers are advised that to reach their destination station at their normal time, they will need to catch the rail replacement bus at their origin station 20 minutes earlier than their usual train.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank our passengers for their patience whilst this essential preparation work is taking place.”
