Good rating for county service helping people at home
A SERVICE that supports people with learning disabilities in their home has been rated “good” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
West Lancashire Domiciliary Service, run by Lancashire County Council, was given the rating after a recent inspection.
The service supports people by helping them to find suitable accommodation, arranging their tenancy and putting together a support plan to help meet their needs.
Support depends on people’s needs and funding packages, but could include supporting people with household tasks, safety in the home and enabling people to take part in leisure and social activities.
County Councillor Graham Gooch, cabinet member for adult services, said: “The good rating is tremendous news for West Lancashire Domiciliary Service.
“It reassures people that the service is safe, caring, responsive to people’s needs, effectively run and well-led.
“The service currently supports 39 people with learning disabilities to help them to live independently in their home. It is a vital part of the care system.
“The good rating is a reflection of the hard work and commitment that goes into managing and delivering this service.”
Nicola Clear, head of the county council’s disability service, added: “Inspectors spoke to people who use the domiciliary service and they were very positive about the support it provides.
“This is great to hear and I’m pleased that the service has been rated as good.
