-

A STUDENT from Ormskirk is devastated after losing a locket containing her dad’s ashes.

Edge Hill University student Mollie Flynn said she lost the locket somewhere between Ormskirk station and Birkenhead during Tuesday morning’s rush hour.

The locket is very special to her because it contains some of the ashes of her dad, who died just before Christmas.

Mollie said: “It means the world to me.”

The silver heartshaped locket is engraved with the inscription “Forever in my heart Dad”.

Mollie said: “I was wearing it around my neck. I definitely had it while on the Ormskirk train.

“It had gone by the time I had got to work.”

Mollie was travelling to Birkenhead to attend a work placement as part of her family and community wellbeing studies.

She travelled on the Northern Line between Ormskirk and Moorfields, where she changed to join the Wirral Line before getting off at Birkenhead Central.

After being made aware of how special the locket is, a spokesperson for Merseyrail said that the train company was asking staff at all stations on the network, its guards, cleaning teams and its lost property department to keep a look out for it.

Anyone who finds the locket is asked to call 07534 369378.
