Get paid part of the cost of PhD
IF you are due to start a Masters or PhD course in agriculture this autumn, you may be eligible for an NFU Mutual Centenary Award bursary to help towards your course fees.
The Centenary Award, run by the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, was launched in 2010 to mark the 100th birthday of NFU Mutual.
To date, the farmers union’s insurer has provided £250,000 to fund the programme, and 33 students have received bursaries.
To apply for the funding, you must have:
Gained, or be expected to gain, a 2:1 or above in agriculture or a related degree.
Been accepted or provisionally accepted onto a UK masters or PhD course in agriculture starting autumn 2018.
The Charitable Trust has identified three topic areas of interest – at least one of which must form part of your postgraduate course:
Sustainable agriculture and climate change.
International agricultural development.
The application of science and innovative technology to the agricultural industry.
The judging panel will be looking for applicants who are not only excellent academic performers, but are also passionate individuals who demonstrate the potential to become a future leader within UK agriculture.
Interested students should email NFU Mutual for further details and an application form.
The closing date for applications is midnight April 30, 2018.
