Community Link Foundation
ALOCAL charity has helped make a difference to people’s lives by helping them purchase much-needed equipment.
Community Link Foundation has given out grants to a whole range of causes, some requiring thousands of pounds, some requiring just a few hundred.
But they all have the same thing in common – that, regardless of the amount of money involved, the grant has made a huge difference to people’s quality of life.
Two recent grants that Community Link Foundation has given out are perfect examples of this.
It received a grant application from a Southport man with multiple sclerosis who has had to make huge adjustments to his life since his diagnosis.
He was in desperate need of a mobility scooter to help him get around town, go shopping and generally improve his day-to-day life.
He applied to CLF for £650 towards funding for the scooter.
His application was granted and the scooter has made life easier on a day-to-day basis.
Another example of a recently approved grant was for a tumble dryer to help a family with a sick child.
The Birkdale-based family applied to CLF for funding towards the dryer to assist with all the extra washing that is a result of their son’s illness.
Their child is having chemotherapy and this is causing sickness which means that they are dealing with a lot more laundry, including washing and drying his bedding daily.
The charity covers Southport, Formby, Ormskirk, Burscough, Hesketh Bank, Rufford, Banks and the areas in between, and distributes grants to people, organisations and community groups who are in need of funding to improve their lives.
It receives applications for grants when people hear about them through the website, through word of mouth or through this column.
The board members then get together to consider the grant applications and ensure they meet the criteria.
