Chance to see CCG in action

-

NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), will be holding its next primary care committee meeting in public in Ormskirk next week.

This follows NHS West Lancashire CCG’s move to level three primary care cocommissioning last April.

This means local health commissioners are now responsible for commissioning primary care services locally and lead on decisions of how funding is allocated.

To support this move and to avoid conflict of interest, the new committee does not offer any local GPs voting rights and is chaired by new CCG lay member Steve Gross.

The committee meetings take place in public, so anyone is welcome to observe.

Steve Gross, board lay member at NHS West Lancashire CCG and chair of the new primary care committee, said: “The move to level three co-commissioning is a significant development for the CCG and for the health and wellbeing of the residents that we serve.

“As a group of local commissioners and clinicians, we understand what issues face our local communities, and importantly what needs our local people have.

“These new committee meetings are held in public, so anyone can observe them, which further reflects our commitment to be transparent about our plans and decisions”.

The next committee will be held from 1.30pm to 3pm on Tuesday, March 13 in the boardroom of the CCG offices in Hilldale at Ormskirk Hospital.

For instructions on how to find the office, contact the CCG on 01695 588 000.

The agenda will be available on the CCG’s website a week before the meeting.
