COMMUNITY Link Foundation is delighted to have been chosen as one of the recipients for Asda Southport’s Green Token Scheme.

The Green Token Giving Programme operates within Asda stores and three good causes or charities from the area are chosen at a time.

Customers at Asda are given a green token by the cashier when they go through the checkout.

Located just behind the checkout desks is a collection point for the tokens.

There, Asda customers can read a little about the different charities and they then place their green token in whichever slot they would like to vote for.

Voting closes at the end of June and the tokens are weighed to determine which cause has the most.

The one with the winning amount of tokens receives a £500 grant, second place gets £300 and third place gets £200.

Enda Rylands, chairman of Community Link Foundation, said: “We are so pleased to have been chosen for Asda’s Green Token Giving Programme and now we really need shoppers to get behind us.

“We would like Asda customers to put their green tokens in for Community Link Foundation and know that if the money was to come to us, we would use it to help people and organisations in our community.’’

Explaining CLF’s local work, Enda continued: “Very recently we have donated money to a little girl for a vest to help with the symptoms of cystic fibrosis.

“This will make a huge difference to her life.

“The more money that we can raise, the more people like her that we can help, so we would be very grateful to be chosen for shoppers’ tokens.

“Thank you to Asda for including us in the scheme, we really do appreciate it.”

Each year the Asda Foundation invests more than £1.4m in over 4,000 good causes through the Green Token Giving Programme.
