Drugs swoop finds £200,000 cannabis haul
DRUGS worth £200,000 have been found inside a home in West Lancashire. A raid discovered 400 cannabis plants in Old Skelmersdale.
The plants were being kept in two rooms in the house as well as inside the loft space.
It is estimated that the drugs have a street value of about £200,000.
The raid was carried out by the Operation Nemesis team and the Skelmersdale local neighbourhood policing team.
It formed part of the crackdown on people producing cannabis with the intention of selling it on the streets.
A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: “The community plays a big part in our fight against drugs and all information we receive is treated in strict confidence.
“Together we can continue the fight against drug production and supply on our streets.”
The discovery was announced on the Skelmersdale police Facebook page and many residents were pleased with the find.
One, Hollie Waterhouse, said: “Well done Skelmersdale police and Operation Nemesis team, great find.”
Keith Taylor added: “Well done police people of Skelmersdale, less drugs on the streets = less crime.”
Similarly, June Davies said: “Excellent work, keep drug dealers off our streets.”
The force said it was unable to provide the name of the street where the house was raided.
