AWEST Lancashire pub is set to reopen after a £280,000 investment.

The Bull & Dog, in Liverpool Road, Burscough, closed earlier this month while a major refurbishment was carried out.

It is hoped the new look will provide a “warm, relaxed, home – fromhome feel for customers to enjoy with a focus on its local heritage and people within the community”.

Ormskirk couple Sabrina, 47, and Richard, 57, Tedford, are to run the pub when it reopens on May 4.

The opportunity arose as two of their five children, Billy and Tommy, were already working at the pub when the lease became available.

They say they are excited for the official reopening and intend to running the Bull & Dog as a family business – where dogs will also be welcome.

The couple are also introducing a new menu, featuring traditional pub food, provided by their nephew, Chris, the chef.

The refurbishment includes new furniture, the outside being repainted and a new play area.

Sabrina, Richie and their team are looking forward to running the new pub, despite not having any previous experience in the industry.

They said: “The pub is starting to look fantastic, the transformation is incredible.

“The investment has given the pub a new lease of life, allowing us to cater for events all year round.

“We are very much looking forward to the reopening and welcoming family, friends, customers new and old to come back and take a look at their new pub.”

The venue is owned by Punch Taverns and partnership development manager Tony Riley added: “It’s great that Punch can invest in our pubs and we essentially want to reposition the Bull & Dog so that it really becomes the hub of the community, while leading the way in providing the best food and drink offer in the area.”
