Creative helpers build a fairy trail

-

THE Prince’s Trust’s team 16 Ormskirk, delivered through West Lancashire College, helped West Lancashire Borough Council Parks and Countryside Rangers create a fairy door trail through the woodland at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, as part of their community project.

Over a week of braving the elements and working hard the team opened a pathway leading through the woodland creating habitat piles for wildlife, making bird boxes and feeders to go up in the woodland.

They also developed spotters’ guides for children to discover what they have created.

If you would like to have a go at spotting visit the office at Coronation Park.

Heidi McDougall, West Lancashire’s director of leisure and environment, said: “The council is very grateful to the Prince’s Trust Team 16 for their help in creating this lovely new feature for the park.

“We wish them every success with the rest of their community project.”

The team of volunteers were brought together through the Prince’s Trust, a charity in the United Kingdom founded in 1976 by HRH Prince Charles and Frederick John Pervin to help young people.

Nationally they run a range of training programmes, provide mentoring support and offer financial grants to build the confidence and motivation of disadvantaged young people.

Each year they work with about 60,000 young people, with around 80% moving on to employment, education, training or volunteering.
