Toast the royal day with tea and cake
AGE UK Lancashire and Prudential UK will host an event to offer support to older people in their local community.
A Royal Afternoon Tea – held in the week following the Royal Wedding – will provide information on local services and organisations that are there to help older people with some of the issues faced in later life.
People will be able to enjoy live musical entertainment, a quiz and raffle, along with plenty of sandwiches, cakes and refreshments.
The Royal Afternoon Tea will be held at Age UK Lancashire’s Wellbeing Centre on Moorgate in Ormskirk on Wednesday, May 23, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
This event is free, but booking is essential as there are limited spaces available.
David Ward, promotions manager at Age UK Lancashire, said: “The Royal Afternoon Tea will be a great opportunity for older people, friends and family and carers in the area to chat to an expert about any concerns or issues they may have and ultimately get the help they need.
“We have invited local partner organisations so there will be a selection of information and advice available specifically for local older people. We hope the feelgood factor of the Royal Wedding will encourage people to come along and join us.”
The event, which is also dementia friendly, is part of the Prudential UK Later Life Links programme which launched last year at Age UK Lancashire, which sees trained Age UK staff and volunteers provide older people with access to relevant and appropriate information, support, advice and links to services to tackle all sorts of issues.
Eleanor Turner, head of corporate responsibility at Prudential UK, said: “We are extremely proud to be partnering with Age UK on this programme for another year.
“We want to enable older people to get the most out of life, but we know every older person’s situation is unique to them.
“Through Later Life Links, together with Age UK we can ensure they’re being directed to a whole range of local support to meet their individual needs.”
