Caring Dylan loses his locks in fundraising close shave

-

ACARING teenage boy, from West Lancashire, has shaved his head for a heartwarming cause.

Dylan Price, 14, decided to “brave the shave” to raise money for the Macmillan cancer charity.

The Burscough Priory Science College pupil initially hoped to raise £250 with the shave – but has so far raised more than £600.

Dylan began fundraising in April and shaved his head for the cause on May 6, at The Grooming Guru’s, in Burscough.

The 14-year-old said: “Throughout my life, I have known a number of people who have suffered from cancer, some of whom have passed away.

“Therefore, I decided to ‘brave the shave’.

“As you can imagine, as a 14-year-old boy, my hair and image are very important to me.

“It was really hard to shave it all off.

“But, it will grow back again – unlike the lives that are lost to this terrible disease.

“It will be worth it to raise money for Macmillan.”

Dylan is still collecting sponsor money for the event and is delighted with the amount raised so far.

His mother, Jacinta Price, said: “All his family are very proud of him. It was totally his idea.

“We are overwhelmed by the donations he has received from family, friends, neighbours, teachers, local businesses and total strangers.

“He has smashed his £250 target.

“He is so pleased with the amount he has raised for this very important charity.”
