Moor Hall awaits its new top 100 ranking

-

AWEST Lancashire restaurant has been named among the 100 best in the country.

Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms has proved an awards magnet since opening in Aughton last year and is set for further recognition at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2018.

The final ranking will be revealed at the awards ceremony next month.

The upmarket venue is set in a converted 16th century manor house with five acres of gardens with views looking out over a lake which is said to be the remains of a medieval moat.

It was acquired by Andy and Tracey Bell in 2015 and underwent a multi-million pound renovation, in partnership with friend, chef, and business partner Mark Birchall, before opening in March 2017.

Since opening, it has received widespread acclaim and been given a host of exclusive awards, including a Michelin star.

It has also been been recognised in the Observer Monthly Food awards; become one of few UK restaurants to receive four AA rosettes; and been listed at number 30 in Harden’s top 100 UK restaurants.

Just last month, it was named Best Breakthrough at the prestigious GQ Food & Drink Awards, with judges describing it as a “stand out operation in every way”.

According to the judges,:“Birchall creates delicate, produce-driven menus inspired by Moor Hall’s surroundings, but brings his knowledge together in a style of his own.”

The spokesman said: “The Awards are the result of the votes of more than 150 industry experts, spread across all regions of the UK, comprising top chefs, restaurateurs, food writers, critics and other food experts and gastronomes, so it is an incredible achievement to make the top 100 ranking.

“Last year we debuted at Number 70! We are looking forward to the awards ceremony on Monday, June 11 to find out where we rank in the list for 2018.”
