It’s back to the ’40s for weekend at Wharf

-

THERE are only a few days to go to the 2018 Burscough Heritage weekend. Over the weekend of June 23-24 the Burscough Heritage group and Burscough Wharf, with support from The Slipway pub and Burscough Parish council, are holding their annual Burscough Heritage weekend.

This year’s event is the eighth and the theme is the 1940s.

The wharf will be filled with displays, stalls and vintage vehicles around the history and heritage of the village and the 1940s whilst the George, a restored wooden coal barge, will be moored on the canal and open for visitors.

All visitors are being asked to join in the fun by dressing up as though it was the 1940s or taking part in the raft race on the Sunday, which will start at The Slipway on Crabtree Lane at about 2pm.

The Lancashire Belle aka Jane Francis,, a 40s-style singer, will be performing in the Burscough Wharf courtyard on both days.

More information is on the Facebook pages of the Burscough Heritage group or Burscough Wharf.
