Wedding venue bid for more bedrooms

AN AWARD-WINNING West Lancashire wedding venue has revealed plans to expand its facilities and build more bedrooms.

West Tower Hotel in Aughton has submitted a planning application to build an annexe with nine bedrooms, offices and a staff bedroom, replacing a disused barn and stables which currently sit there.

The manor house hosts more than 150 weddings each year but currently only has 19 bedrooms spread across its main house, a small cottage and coach house.

Despite hosting more than 150 people at many of the weddings, the bedroom capacity is limited to 45 people, while around 40% of the guests each year come from outside of West Lancashire.

According to the application, building the new bedrooms will not only make the venue more attractive to guests, but reduce the number of journeys along the unlit Moss Lane to a B&B, saving guests from travelling to other hotels.

Stephanie Beqo, general manager of West Tower said: “We are hopeful our planning application for additional bedrooms on site will be successful, this is an obvious development for us as we are primarily using a space that currently exists.

“West Tower is continuing to go from strength to strength, particularly over recent years, winning Country Brides “Best Wedding Venue in Lancashire” this year for an unprecedented eight consecutive years. The additional bedrooms will provide extra overnight accommodation for our guests on the day of their wedding and provide additional local jobs with more rooms to be serviced.

“The new build will also include a stunning dressing room for our bridal party to get ready on the morning of their wedding. We are committed to constantly maintaining and improving our beautiful property.

“This is another way to enhance our current wonderful offering.”
