Can you give Kizzy home she deserves?

-

WOODLANDS, an independent animal sanctuary based in Holmeswood, Rufford, is looking for a very special person to provide Kizzy, a terminally ill cat, with a loving home for the last months of her life.

Kizzy, who is about 15 years old, went to Woodlands after her owner died.

She’d been home alone while her owner was in hospital and after she died, and although she was being cared for by family and friends of her late owner it was no life for an older lady like her.

Woodlands was alerted to her plight by a longstanding supporter and didn’t hesitate to offer to take her in.

As with all new admissions, Kizzy was checked over by the sanctuary’s vet who was concerned about her general condition.

Various tests were done and it was found that Kizzy has renal problems which despite the best available treatment will be lifelimiting.

It is now believed that Kizzy is likely to only have around 12 months left to live.

Although Kizzy is well loved and well cared for at the sanctuary, Woodlands believes that she deserves to spend her final months in a home of her own where she needs to be the only pet and where she can have the individual attention of a special carer.

Woodlands is happy to cover all costs relating to Kizzy including vets bills (she is under the care of the sanctuary’s vets at the Rufford Veterinary Group) and the cost of the special diet that she needs.

Liz Gould from the sanctuary said: “Kizzy is a very sweet old lady despite her ills and we would love to see her living in a normal home environment.

“We are searching for that special person who can provide her with the love and care that she deserves in her final months.”

Could you offer Kizzy the home that she deserves?

Please contact the sanctuary on 01704 823293 for more information.

Donations towards the cost of Kizzy’s ongoing care can be made via the Woodlands website at www.woodlandsanimalsanctuary.org.uk/donate or by post or in person to Woodlands Farm, Sandy Lane, Holmeswood L40 1UE.

Cheques should be made payable to Woodlands Animal Sanctuary.

Woodlands’ next open day is their big, annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 2 at their site in Holmeswood.

If you would like to keep up to date with the work they are doing you can also follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or visit their website: www.woodlandsanimalsanctuary.org.uk.
