Summer activities at gallery
LOOKING for something different to do this summer?
Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk has a number of free events to suit all tastes.
The Lancashire Open exhibition has more than 200 artworks to explore.
Young visitors can play detective and see if they can follow the clues and find the artworks.
If you want to get more hands-on, book a place on the family-friendly activity, Bloom Creatively today (August 16) between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
Here you can help celebrate the gallery’s impressive refurbishment programme by painting one of the circular discs that will go up around the town in September.
You can also check out those that have already been created by schoolchildren in West Lancashire which are now on display at the gallery.
Please note young children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Gallery’s Monster Playground is open to all throughout the summer holidays, and families can come along at any time (no need to book) to enjoy this free activity space. They can: Follow a Monster Trail Become a monster (or dress up like one at least!) Make a monster Draw on the jumbo Monster Wall

The Monster Fun continues with mask making and disco fun.
Children aged between four and 10 can come along to the daytime disco, make a monster mask and learn the monster stomp and other disco moves, with Mooncup Theatre’s Rebecca Clarke on Wednesday, August 29.
Sessions between 10am and 11.30am; 12pm and 1.30pm and 2pm and 3.30pm. Cost is £2.50 per session per child.
Anyone who would like to work on their observational drawing skills and meet likeminded people can join a Sketch Crawl around Ormskirk’s busy market with illustrator Gill Smith.
