Time to nominate local sport heroes
NOW is the time for you to nominate your local sporting heroes for a prestigious accolade. Organised by Active Lancashire, the Lancashire Sports Awards is the largest celebration of amateur sport in the County.
The Awards have been developed in partnership with each of Lancashire’s local authorities in order to celebrate sporting achievement and showcase best practice throughout the County.
The Awards pay tribute to those, young and old, who show dedication to perform at the highest level or those who work tirelessly to support individuals or clubs week in, week out, for the love of sport.
West Lancashire Borough Council is inviting local clubs, individuals and schools to put forward their nominations for the following categories: Club of the Year Coach of the Year Community Project of the Year Volunteer of the Year Primary School of the Year Secondary School of the Year Young Achiever of the Year Service to Underrepresented Groups
Lifetime Achievement - Commitment to Sport
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, West Lancashire Borough Council portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “West Lancashire has sporting heroes who either compete or give up their time to help others to compete.
“They deserve recognition for their efforts, so please send us your nominations.”
Nominees must come from or represent the West Lancashire area.
The successful nominees will be invited to represent the borough at the Lancashire Sports Awards, where the overall regional winners will then be crowned.
Closing date for West Lancashire nominations is Friday, August 24.
The local winners of each category are automatically put forward to represent West Lancashire at the Lancashire Sports Awards on Friday, November 23 at The Blackpool Hotel and Conference Centre, previously known as the Hilton Hotel, Blackpool.
