ADRUG dealer from West Lancashire, who was stopped by police while being driven around, was found to have hidden wraps of cocaine in a Kinder egg in his rectum.

Tony Turner, the frontseat passenger in a silver Nissan Almeira, had been arrested after police found a wrap of cocaine in the central console, an empty wrap at his feet and another wrap in his hand.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that it was “later found he had Kinder egg concealed in his anus. It contained nine wraps and a dealer’s list”.

A phone belonging to him was “ringing constantly and receiving text messages”, said Ken Grant, prosecuting.

Turner, 41, of Turning Lane, Scarisbrick, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply and was jailed for 32 months on Friday.

The driver, Michael Comiskey, 56, of Sefton Street, Southport, denied the same offence, claiming he was unaware of the drugs, but was convicted by a jury after a trial.

The judge, Recorder Stan Reiz, jailed him for four years and banned him from driving for two and a half years, after admitting driving without insurance.

Recorder Reiz said that, although the value of the four grammes of cocaine was under £400, they were involved in street dealing.

He said that although Turner, who has 26 previous convictions, had kept out of trouble for eight years after finding employment and stability in a relationship, he had then committed this offence, the most serious now on his record.

The judge told Comiskey, who has 15 previous convictions: “You were in the Royal Marines and found it difficult to adapt to civilian living.

“But that was many years ago and that cannot excuse or mitigate this serious offence.”

He told the two men: “You were in it together. Tony Turner, you had possession of the drugs, had a telephone and dealer’s list ready to supply customers with cocaine. You, Comiskey, were driving him around.”

Mr Grant had told the court that the vehicle was spotted by police in Southport at about 1am on August 19 last year, after it went through an amber traffic light on Lord Street at the junction with Nevill Street. They followed it and stopped it in Market Street.

Comiskey claimed that Turner was a friend of his two sons and he was just giving him a lift.
