Homes plan ‘will preserve mature trees’

-

A PLANNING application has been submitted for six houses to be built on land near Greetby Hill in Ormskirk.

The site is south of Greetby Hill and east of Delph Top.

The site originally formed part of a wider site comprising land at the former property known as Quarry Mount.

The easternmost part of this site has already been developed for housing.

Henderson Homes Ltd submitted the application, for six semi-detached houses.

A design and access statement said that the houses would be well situated for access to the town centre.

There are several large mature trees, the subject of a tree preservation order, positioned around the outer edge of the site and Henderson Homes said that the majority would be retained, including all the most significant specimens.

The design and access statement added that vehicle access would be taken from the west from Delph Top to the centre of the site, so as to ensure minimal loss of the mature trees around the site boundary and is not close to the junction of Delph Top and Greetby Hill.

It added: “The design of the dwellings is in keeping with the nearby development of large detached houses at Quarry Mount and the detached bungalows and dormer bungalows on Delph Top. “As it is proposed to retain a number of mature trees around the site’s boundary, views into the site would remain largely unchanged.

“The front façade of the proposed dwellings has a gable front, echoing the gable fronted bungalows adjacent to the site.

“The materials proposed to be used on the dwellings are designed to compliment the surrounding dwellings, that is, brick is used on all the elevations with brick feature panels (variations in pattern and colour) have been used to break up large expanses of brick and create visual interest.”

Each house would feature driveways that provide for a minimum of two off-road car parking spaces per dwelling, with additional guest spaces nearby.
