Two dozen youngsters are hooked on panto!

ATOTAL of 24 talented children from across Merseyside who attend Loretta Legge Theatre School in Maghull have been chosen to appear in this year’s prestigiou­s pantomime, Peter Pan, at the ECHO Arena.

The 24 young dancers aged from seven to 12 years old have auditioned and been chosen by Shone Production­s Limited to appear in this year’s spectacula­r panto in Liverpool.

This year’s show boasts 3D special effects, a huge cast, glamorous scenery and stunning costumes to wow the audience.

This is the third year students from Loretta Legge Theatre school have been chosen for pantomime at the ECHO arena and the theatre school are ecstatic to be back.

The principal of the school, Loretta Legge, has extensive experience as a profession­al dancer/choreograp­her and director working alongside some of the country’s best loved celebritie­s.

Her co-principal and daughter, Rebecca Urszuly, who is also no stranger to the spotlight, has had an extensive profession­al career as a dance, singer and actress.

Together they continue to teach the performing arts to children and adults in all facilities of dance, singing, drama and musical theatre.

With over 40 years of teaching experience The Loretta Legge Theatre school has a 100% examinatio­n pass rate in all theatre and drama subjects and excel in students winning awards for competitio­ns across the North West.

They are proud to have produced talented artists who have gone on to star in the West End in musicals such as Fame, Blood Brothers, Cats, Boogie Nights and The Lion King to name a few.

Now these new and excited young dancers will appear alongside names such as Mark Labette – The Beast from ITV’s game show The Chase – as Captain Hook; Radio City presenter Leanne Campbell; and Hollie Ellison of The Voice UK. They have SOUTHPORT couple Ann Doring and her partner Ken where lucky enough to be drawn out of the hat in a competitio­n run by Waterlooba­sed cruise agency Vision Cruise, to win their holiday completely free.

They were surprised when John Cooper and a TV crew turned up on their doorstep to give them the good news.

The couple from Churchtown will now be sailing on a week-long cruise on a super liner from Southampto­n – and they will started rehearsals and cannot wait to appear onstage at the ECHO Arena this Christmas.

The dancers are: Lucy Woledge, Niccole JamesJenki­nson, Tallulah EllisBrenn­an, Caoimhe Lyons, Daisy Boyle, Lola Pryce, Alexia Tierney, Ruby Wishart, Imogen Johnson, Millie Summer, Courtney Danson, Maddison Hunt, Cerise Danson, Lexie Bolster, Orla Jonhson, Josh Hall, Lucy Crellin, Isabella Blain, Amy Ward, Isla Boyle, Lucy Whittingsl­ow, Louisa Mawdsley, Phoebe Duffey, Freya Milligan.

Peter Pan starts on December 14 and runs until December 24.

Ann said: “I was so surprised, we watch Vision Cruise on Sky TV all the time and regularly go to their cruise shows in the Floral Hall, but we never expected this.”

John Cooper, who presents the company’s TV shows every night at 5pm on Sky channel 191 said: “We give away a cruise holiday every month to a lucky viewer, and it was a delight to be able to give this holiday away to Ann and Ken, they are a lovely couple, and both love cruising.”

A PUPIL from Merefield Special School in Ainsdale was presented with the LJMU Good Citizen award by Rt Honourable Andrea Leadsom MP at St George’s Hall in Liverpool on Thursday, November 29.

Reece, 16, a pupil with learning difficulti­es, was nominated in recognitio­n of his contributi­ons to the local community and within his school.

His nomination highlighte­d many of his achievemen­ts and contributi­ons over the last few years despite only being 16 years old.

His nomination said: “Reece is a polite, mature and kind young man.

“He has acted as a mentor to younger pupils during his own lunchtimes, sports leader and had

Ken said: “We really wanted to go on this cruise, as I have always wanted to visit Hamburg, and this just fitted in with when we wanted to go, so we booked it, never expecting we would win it.” a job as a voluntary worker for British Heart Foundation.

“He’s in Boys Brigade, has Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and is working towards Silver award.

“He is an active member of his local church and is always volunteeri­ng to help in any way he can in his school life such as class jobs, collecting lunches, supporting coffee events and suchlike.

“He has expressed an interest in volunteeri­ng at after-school club to help with the younger pupils and he aspires to be a Sefton Ranger.

“He has completed a number of voluntary roles to support projects in the local community such as a local bag pack, school council meetings and is a keen sportsman.

“He is a delightful young man and is very deserving of the good citizen award as he actively contribute­s to all aspects of school life and beyond.”

Members of staff, two pupils and Reece’s grandmothe­r were in attendance at one of the Roscoe lectures to watch Reece receive his award as well as meeting several dignitarie­s from around Merseyside.

Headteache­r Sue Clare commended Reece during the ceremony with a short speech to the attendees, she said: “We are extremely proud of Reece and all he has achieved despite some personal challenges he has faced in his life.

“He has attended Merefield for a number of years and continues to develop and grow into a sensible and mature young man.”
