Pitch made for 130 homes
MORE than 100 homes could be built in Lathom under plans submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council.
Developer Wainhomes wants to create the development on a plot of land at Firswood Road, near Skelmersdale.
The proposal is for a total of 130 homes, featuring a mix of apartments, retirement properties and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.
The whole of the land off Firswood Road has already been earmarked for 400 homes in West Lancashire’s Local Plan, with planning permission already granted for 94 properties on another section.
These plans will go before the borough council’s planning committee but a further planning application will still then be needed to detail the exact size, designs and layout of each house.
Under the proposal, car access to the new estate would be via Firswood Road, while a new pedestrian access would also be provided onto the same road with further connections to Old Engine Lane and Slate Lane.
The application states: “The site has been designed to complement the surrounding area, creating local identity and reduce antisocial behaviour.
“Well-informed design and material choice could give the development longevity, contribute to the townscape and raise the aspirations of the area.”
