Footage released in attack probe
POLICE investigating an unprovoked attack which left a 61-year-old man hospitalised have released CCTV images as part of their enquiries.
A gang of yobs assaulted the man in Avondale Avenue, Maghull, on Saturday, February 16, leaving the victims with cuts to his head.
The group first assaulted the victim at around 4pm but were chased away when the man’s neighbours saw what was happening and stepped in.
But a short time later, a male and female arrived in Avondale Avenue and the man was assaulted a second time. He was then taken to hospital with cuts to his head.
Two men, aged 29 and 54, and believed to be his neighbours, were also injured and sought hospital treatment.
Four teenage boys – a 14-year-old from Liverpool, a 13-year-old from Maghull, a 17-year-old from Melling and a 13-year-old from Melling – have already been arrested on suspicion of Violent Disorder and Section 18 Assault and all have been released on conditional bail.
But police are continuing to investigate the shocking attack and have released CCTV images on four people they want to speak with in relation to the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: “The investigation has progressed, however we are continuing to ask the public for their help to trace the four people pic- tured as we believe they could have vital info that could help us piece together the full circumstances of the incident.
