Bowling club boosted by homebuilder donation
HOMEBUILDER Taylor Wimpey North West, has donated £500 to Burscough Bowling Club as part of its extensive plans to make much-needed repairs to its highly-regarded green.
Established in 1894, the club is extremely proud of its green, which is currently in a state of disrepair due to harsh weather conditions over the past 12 months.
Players and management are keen to refurbish the green to its former glory as one of the best greens to play crown bowls on in West Lancashire.
John Marriott, chairman of Burscough Bowling Club, comments: “We’re all immensely proud of our club and take every precaution within our control to futureproof and look after our green and grounds.
“Unfortunately, its taken quite a beating this year and we need to spend a considerable amount of money to make it great again.
“Taylor Wimpey’s generous donation will help us to achieve our ambitions that much quicker and we’re all incredibly grateful.
“We’re all incredibly passionate about our sport and our community and so we welcome any new members from Taylor Wimpey’s Briars Lock or Highgrove Park developments, close to our club, to join us for a friendly chat and game.”
