Linnets boss – ‘The secret of my success’
Terry Green says Burscough players have bought into his philosophy
TERRY Green has revealed the process behind his stunning start to life as Burscough manager.
Green arrived at Victoria Park in November as former manager Dave Sutton reverted to his original director of football role at the club and has subsequently lost just two league games.
Linnets are now comfortably mid-table in the HSL Premier Division after decimating Barnoldswick Town 5-0 at the weekend.
Goals from Terry Cummings, Chad Whyte and a hat-trick from Connor Finlayson shocked Town, who started the game in the top six.
Goalkeeper Ben Fletcher made his debut for Linnets in the rout after signing from Green’s former club Squires Gate last week.
“Somebody from the league commented what a great signing he was,” the manager said. “Ben’s one of the best goalkeepers in the division and someone who can easily go above and beyond.
“We’re looking to strengthen every position. I’ve got my fingers in pies as they say looking for players.”
Captain Danny Brady recently admitted Burscough are enjoying life under the new manager and Green explained his players have bought into the philosophy he employs.
“It’s very difficult going into a new team, especially when I don’t know anybody,” he said.
“My personality is what it is. The lads either buy into it or they don’t and fortunately they have.
“They’re allowed to push it so far and have a great bit of banter but obviously I’m the boss at the end of the day. It’s not what I say goes it’s an open relationship. It’s open, it’s transparent, it’s clear and the lads like that.
“If they’ve got something to say they can say it in the dressing room and we’ll discuss it or take it out onto the training field.
“It’s not just my way or the highway, it’s all about an open and transparent process between us all.”
Green also confirmed the appointment of Wayne Housley as his assistant manager last week.
