Chance to have a say at council meetings

PEOPLE living in West Lancashire can speak on certain agenda items at borough council meetings where important decisions are made that affect people across the area.

In addition to those arrangemen­ts in place for speaking at planning and licensing committees, there is also an opportunit­y to speak on items being considered at meetings of cabinet, audit & governance committee, standards committee and overview and scrutiny committees.

The right to speak applies to all meetings of the committees mentioned but residents may want to be aware of the dates of upcoming meetings at the council’s Derby Street offices: ● Standards committee, Tuesday 17 September, 5pm. ● Executive overview and scrutiny committee, Thursday, September 26, 7pm. ● Corporate and environmen­tal overview and scrutiny committee, Thursday, October 10, 7pm. ● Audit and governance committee, Tuesday, October 29, 6.30pm

Agendas for these meetings will usually be published on the council’s website, www.westlancs.gov.uk/ coins, in the week preceding the meeting.

To request to speak, members of the public must contact member services with their request by 10am on the Friday of the week preceding the relevant meeting.
