Rose Tree Tea Rooms was named the regional winner at last week’s Food Awards England during a black tie ceremony at the Mercure Manchester Picadilly Hotel.
The mum-anddaughter business beat competition from the likes of King’s Garden Tea Rooms, in Southport, to claim the number one spot. The tea rooms, at Burscough Wharf, is popular with locals and visitors and offers a range of traditional cakes and sandwiches, as well as a range of teas and slow-roasted coffees.
After the ceremony, Rachael Elliff, who runs the Rose Tree with mum Theresa, said: “We can’t believe it!
“Mum and I are so delighted to have won; it was a great night and is amazing for small businesses to be recognised at these events.”
The awards are in their sixth year and celebrates the best in the food industry, from restaurants, chefs and servers, to the specialists and suppliers.
Turquaz, the Turkish barbecue restaurant in Ormskirk, was also nominated in the North section of the Best World Cuisine category but lost out to Middlesbrough-based Manjaros.
