Chocs away! Far East buys into luxury taste

-

LANCASHIRE chocolatier Choc Amor has turned its sights on global expansion, exporting thousands of bags of its chocolate to a distributor in Japan.

Following its four Great Taste Award wins in 2018, the brand came to the attention of Taste by Borough Box, who distribute Great Taste award-winning products around the UK and internationally.

The product has been listed at a “UK Event” within Hankyu Department Stores in Japan.

It is one of the most prestigious department store groups in Japan and regularly holds UK Fairs in store.

The two flavours selected, Turkish Charm and Tonka Bean, Smoked Sea Salt and Cocoa Nib, will also be listed within the Conran group of shops in Japan.

Choc Amor director of innovations Paul Williams, said: “We were delighted to be approached by Taste by Borough Box, who had first trialled our chocolate at the Great Taste Awards, and we were intrigued to hear that their Japanese

customers were keen to try a range of our chocolate flavours.

“The Choc Amor team all tried to guess which flavours would appeal to the Japanese market.

“Would it be the more traditional ‘Brown Butter & Nibs’ or the more challenging flavours like ‘Orange Jalfrezi’?

“When the order came in for over 1,300 bags of Turkish Charm and Tonka Bean, Smoked Sea Salt and Cocoa Nib we looked forward to shipping to the Far East two of our best selling flavours and we can’t wait to hear what our new Japanese customers think of Choc Amor’s chocolate!”

The Lancashire chocolatier has already won seven awards in 2019, including Great Taste Awards, Academy of Chocolate and International Chocolate Awards and is looking forward to more global expansion in the years ahead.

You can visit Choc Amor at their chocolate studio in Cedar Farm, Mawdesley, Lancashire or learn more about the chocolatier at www.chocamor.co.uk.
