Macmillan on tour for lung cancer awareness
MACMILLAN Cancer Support’s mobile information and support bus is out and about for lung cancer awareness month.
The team offers a service for anyone with questions about cancer.
They are heading for Maghull tomorrow (Friday).
Debbie Smith, a Macmillan Mobile Information and Support Specialist on the unit, said: “If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer, you may have questions – and may not know where to go to get them answered.
“Macmillan is here for you. Our mobile bus is coming right into your community, with experts on board to give you cancer information and support that’s confidential and specially tailored to you.
“We have information about a wide range of cancers – including lung.
“Whether you want to chat about symptoms, money worries or just want a listening ear, pop in and see us.”
The service will be visiting Central Suare, Maghull, 9am-3pm, on Friday, November 15.
Lung cancer is common in men and women, with about 47,200 cases diagnosed every year.
The most common symptoms of lung cancer are:
A cough that lasts for three weeks or more.
A change in a cough you have had for a long time.
A chest infection that doesn’t get better, or having repeated chest infections.
Feeling breathless and wheezy for no reason. Coughing up blood. A hoarse voice that lasts for three weeks or more.
Pain in your chest or shoulder that doesn’t get better.
Other possible symptoms are losing weight for no obvious reason, and feeling tired.
