HUNDREDS of people turned out to celebrate the launch of the festive season at the Concourse Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale recently.

With entertainment galore – including local performers from schools and community organisations – plus special guests, including Santa, there was plenty to keep families and shoppers of all ages occupied.

Elsa and Anna, the stars from Frozen 2, sang to their young fans, many of whom clamoured to get selfies with the stars, while Bjorn the Bear, The Winter Fairy, The Red Hot Santas, and The Christmas stiltwalkers, entertained families throughout the day around the centre.

Santa also attended the launch, handed out free chocolates to customers and met youngsters with their Christmas wishlists, while Max Spielmann reported being busy all day, with customers getting special Christmas photographs.

Jennifer Burnett, marketing manager of The Concourse Shopping Centre, said: “It was a really fun day and we’ve received so much positive feedback from customers who said they enjoyed a great day of different activities.

“Having so many community groups performing alongside the other special guests made the day extra special and I’m pleased that so many people came to support them.”

Anyone who had their photograph taken by the Wish FM street team can see the images on the station’s online gallery – a winner will be chosen at random for a family ticket to the cinema, with snacks, to see Frozen 2.

As well as the festive activities, the new Hays Travel officially launched in the old Thomas Cook unit, with staff handing out free fizz, cakes and snacks.

Santa will also be visiting the centre throughout December – dates have yet to be confirmed and will be posted on the Concourse Shopping Centre Facebook page, Facebook.com/ConcourseShoppingCentre.

In the meantime, youngsters can send Father Christmas their wishlist letters in a special post box in the East Square until Christmas Eve, with guaranteed delivery to the North Pole.

Father Christmas will write back to anyone posting their letters by December 19 – the collection station will be by the Christmas tree.
