A DECISION on whether to allow an Aldi superstore to be built in Tarleton was postponed.

West Lancashire Borough Council’s planning committee had been expected to grant permission to an application to demolish the former Bay Leaf restaurant, only for it to be withdrawn by officers before the meeting.

Further discussions will take place and the application, which is also for see offices on the site for local firm GBA Services, is expected to be considered at the next meeting in February.

BURSCOUGH’S former Royal Bank of Scotland can be converted into a bar after permission was granted.

Under proposals approved by West Lancashire Borough Council, the Liverpool Road North building will be brought back to use with a bar downstairs and flats on the first floor. A small shop will also be created in an adjacent building which was previously used as taxi rank.

The bank closed down in January 2019 despite anger from residents and local politicians and has been empty ever since.

A SKELMERSDALE pub can continue using its outdoor bar, planning officials have decided.

The Coach House, in Liverpool Road, was granted retrospective planning permission for a number of structures which had been erected in its beer garden.

Despite some opposition from neighbours, it was granted an alcohol licence during the summer to sell drinks in the beer garden.

It had not previously been given permission for a bar, seating, decking, pergolas and fencing built in outside the pub but an application has now been approved.
