Reverend Dave wears his heart with pride

-

THE Rev David Dickinson was pleasantly surprised to receive a Love Hesketh Bank award from the parish council.

Despite officially being part time and semi retired, Reverend Dave, as he is affectionately known, is involved in so much over and above his role, which the award recognises.

His outreach activities include regular contact with All Saints Primary School and Little Saints Nursery in the village, the Air Cadets who parade in All Saints Church once a month, and all the uniformed organisations at Sunday School, and he has fostered close links with Hesketh Bank Silver Band, who play for some services.

If that isn’t enough, he is also Padre to 471 Squadron of Hesketh Bank and Tarleton.

He makes himself available to the young villagers and seeks to build good relationships with them for the benefit of individuals and society.

After a career as a high school teacher for 31 years, Rev Dave had to cut back due to health issues and accepted the role in Hesketh Bank as he felt he still had a lot to give.

“Working with young people is in my blood,” he said.

It seems fitting that Rev Dave chose Hesketh Bank to serve as his family is from the village.

He added: “It feels like I have come home and I am having the time of my life here.”

The Love Hesketh Bank campaign, celebrating what is great about the village, launched on February 14 2014.

In the awards, introduced in 2016, the parish council recognises those who have made an outstanding contribution to the village.
