Warning over man sought after gun fired

- BY JAMIE LOPEZ

POLICE have warned the public not to approach a man they want to speak to over a shooting in Skelmersdale.

The appeal comes after a shotgun was fired outside an address in Feltons in what detectives believe was a targeted attack.

No one was hurt in the shooting, which took place at about 6pm last Friday.

Detectives say they now want to speak to 29-year-old Richard Shacklady in connection with the incident and urged anyone who sees him to call 999.

Mr Shacklady, 29, is described as white, slim to medium build, 6ft and with short, light brown hair.

He has tattoos on his neck and right arm and a sleeve tattoo on his left arm. He is said to have links to Skelmersdale, Merseyside, Wigan and Standish.

Det Sgt Pete Reil, of South CID, said: “While we believe this was a targeted incident we are treating it extremely seriously as it is only a matter of good fortune that no -one was seriously hurt.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious on Friday evening to get in touch and I would urge anyone who knows where Richard Shacklady is or who sees him to contact us. I would also ask Richard himself to come forward if he sees this appeal so that we can speak with him.”

Anyone who sees Mr Shacklady should not approach him but should contact police.

For immediate sightings, call 999 or to report any information, phone 101 quoting log 1130 of Feb 28. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
