Homes project hoped to begin later in year

AHOUSING developer hopes to begin construction on 267 homes on the Yew Tree Farm development later this year.

Chorley-based Anwyl Homes Lancashire has bought 20 acres of land off Liverpool Road South and could spend five years carrying out construction there.

Anwyl says it has submitted an application to build 267 homes on the site, which would constitute almost half of the 580 which have been permitted there.

The wider Yew Tree Farm development will eventually compromise 580 homes, a care home, community centre and parkland along with plans for retail and industrial units including a soft play centre.

The new neighbourhood also includes potential school site.

The development, known as Priory Gardens, will feature a mixture of one to four-bedroom properties, of which 94 will be classed as affordable homes.

John Grime, managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “Acquiring a

land at Yew Tree Farm is a major milestone for us. It’s a key strategic development site for West Lancashire and gives Anwyl the potential for more than five years of production in this one location.

“Burscough is a thriving community, it’s also close to Ormskirk and approximately halfway between Preston and Liverpool.

“We’ve carefully considered the housing mix at Priory Gardens to meet local needs and there’s a good choice of properties planned, including three and four-bedroom detached private sale homes.”

Anwyl said it would include an electric vehicle charging point for every home at Priory Gardens and that a number of landscaped run-off channels, ponds and wetlands are being created as part of the development.

There will also be a new park and landscaped public open space.

Subject to planning approval and virusrelated delays, Anwyl hopes to start work on site this summer with the first homes due to be released for sale later in the year.

It is anticipated that the first properties will be ready to move into in early 2021 and that the Anwyl development will be complete by 2026.
