Address award for council
WEST Lancashire Borough Council has been given a Gold Award by industry experts for the way it manages information on streets and properties.
Coronavirus is placing massive demands on the public sector, but accurate addressing helps essential services to provide prompt support for vulnerable people.
Along with other local authorities, West Lancashire Borough Council works with GeoPlace to maintain a national infrastructure that supports the address and street information needs of public and private organisations.
GeoPlace’s Exemplar Awards highlight best practice and the Gold Award is given to those authorities that consistently maintain the highest standards in national tests.
Martin Butterfield, Karen Macdonald and Catherine Gallagher from the council’s planning team earned the Gold Achivement Award for address data as they supply the regular updates to Geoplace.
Cllr David Evans, portfolio holder for planning, said: “I am very proud of the team who have earned this award.
“Although this work is not so much in the public eye it has a vital role to play and it is great that the council’s dedication has been recognised.”
Nick Chapallaz, managing director of GeoPlace said: “West Lancashire Borough Council has set an example for data management that deserves recognition on a national stage.
“Managing addressing information data to this standard takes skill and commitment.”
The awards were announced at a special webinar which was held instead of GeoPlace’s usual annual conference.
