Drug-drive suspect halted by police dog after chase
A SUSPECTED drug driver was stopped by a police dog after a 50-minute cross-county chase.
The pursuit began in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8 in Wigan and the driver entered West Lancashire at about 1.20am.
Police used a stinger device to bring the car a stop in the Skelmersdale area at about 2am, at which point the driver attempted to make off.
He was arrested nearby but was taken to hospital for treatment for a minor injury caused by one of the police dogs.
A Lancashire police spokesperson said the driver was taken to hospital as “a precaution and was not seriously injured”.
