A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with assault after a double stabbing in Skelmersdale.

A 16-year-old girl was one of the victims as two teenagers were stabbed in broad daylight.

The victims were taken to hospital with stab wounds on Wednesday, July 8 and were said to be in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The girl was slashed in the leg and an 18-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his stomach when the attacker struck at a property in Thurston at about midday.

The 17-year-old, also from Skelmersdale, was arrested the following day on suspicion of attempted murder but subsequently charged with Section 20 assault.

A police spokesman had earlier described the incident as a “targeted attack” and said that it was “thought that the victims and offenders are known to each other”.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Preston Magistrates’ Court on Friday, for a preliminary hearing.
