Make sure of having your vote
WEST Lancashire Borough Council is writing to residents to make sure they are on the electoral register and entitled to vote.
Letters should be arriving this week and anyone not currently registered can find more information in the council’s request form or online at www.gov.uk/ register-to-vote.
All elections due to take place this year were cancelled because of the lockdown, so West Lancashire Borough Council, Lancashire County Council and the Police & Crime Commissioner elections will be in May 2021.
Jacqui Sinnott-Lacey, electoral registrations officer, said: “Your say in local elections are so important so if you have moved house or if there are any other changes such as a family member becoming 18 then please let us know.”
Being on the electoral register also affects people’s credit scores as it provides valuable proof of their identity and address to lenders.
