Man on ‘fake PC’ charge
A MAN accused of carrying out a stop and search and confiscating cash has been charged with impersonating a police officer.
Police launched an investigation after it was reported a man had approached a group of people at a bus stop in New Street, Halsall, on June 27.
It was alleged a man identified himself as an officer before searched the group and taking money off them.
Following extensive enquiries, Connor Webb, 21, was arrested in connection with the incident. Webb, of Boyer Avenue, Maghull, has been charged with impersonating an officer and theft and will go before Preston Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
