Resident claims £1m prize – two months on

A LUCKY West Lancashire resident has come forward to claim a huge £1m lottery win.

The mystery millionair­e was the subject of an appeal from National Lottery operator Camelot after they went almost two months without claiming their prize.

The ticket-holder matched five main numbers and the bonus ball from the August 1 draw and has now finally come forward.

As with all major prizes, the claim will now go through the process of validation, which includes checks to ensure the Games Rules Terms and Conditions are adhered to and the integrity of The National Lottery is protected.

Once the ticket has been validated and paid, the ticket-holder will then decide whether or not to go public and share their news.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “It’s fantastic news that the lucky ticket-holder has now claimed their prize. We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.

“We’re encouragin­g all National Lottery players to check their tickets, either online via the National Lottery website or, as the current situation allows, in their local store.”

ONE of West Lancashire’s most popular pubs has decided to close its doors for two weeks after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The Ship at Lathom made the decision voluntaril­y after the worker received the positive test on Tuesday morning and a deep clean is now being carried out.

Under current Government guidance, pubs are not required to close if one staff member test positive, but are encouraged to contact Public Health England if multiple
