Fill police in on local worries

TWO West Lancashire men were charged with drug dealing offences after an eight month investigation led to a series of police raids.

Another four men from nearby Maghull and one from Formby were also named as suspects as a result of the joint operation involving Merseyside and North Wales’ Serious and Organised Crime Teams.

Officers raided addresses in Formby, Maghull, Lydiate, Walton and Huyton last Thursday and seized hauls of drugs, cash and jewellery while making 12 arrests.

A total of 10 people were charged with conspiracy to supply and produce cocaine, heroin, amphetamine, cannabis and Ketamine and conspiracy to convert criminal property. They are: David Kelly, 42, of Downholland business park, Ormskirk; Paul Michael Mount, 37, of Summerwood Gardens, Halsall; Stephen Raymond Shearwood, 37, of Sankey Road, Maghull; Michael Joseph Pope, 34, of Whinney

WEST Lancashire residents are being urged to take part in a new police programme which, in the first instance, has led to a clampdown on the use of off road bikes.

West Lancashire Neighbourhood Policing Team have run a joint operation with Merseyside Police targeting the use of illegal bikes near Ormskirk and Southport.

It was launched in response to concerns raised by the community via Lancashire Talking, a new initiative to improve communication between police and residents.

People fill in a short online survey about what it’s like to live in their area – and have a voice in how neighbourhood policing is prioritised.

Once completed, respondents receive a follow- up email asking for more information and all responses are confidential. Members of the community messaging system In The Know will then receive email updates from their team about the action taken to tackle those local issues.
