Fans descend on coffee shop to meet LFC legend Gerrard

-

STEVEN Gerrard fans swarmed a Costa Coffee shop and started banging on the windows as he enjoyed a coffee inside.

The Liverpool FC legend went to Costa Coffee in the Central Square Shopping Centre on Westway, in Maghull, on Thursday, June 24.

After being spotted by somebody else in the store, they immediately took to Facebook to share his whereabouts.

It wasn’t long before more and more people started showing up and, according to eyewitnesses, the Aston Villa manager took pictures with a number of fans and even signed a Liverpool shirt. A spokesperson from Costa said it caused “a bit of buzz”.

People were reportedly banging on the windows from outside the coffee shop and waiting outside the store. Staff working in the coffee shop were able to serve Steven and then help him leave safely afterwards.

People took to social media after Steven left the coffee shop, with some saying he should have been left alone to enjoy his coffee “in peace”. Others posted to say how lovely it was to meet him.

One woman said: “It’s nice until people are told on social media so start to turn up banging on windows and staff can’t go home because there’s that many people waiting outside. Just let a person enjoy their coffee in peace.

Another woman added: “He is just a normal person trying to have a coffee, it’s embarrassing.”

One excited auntie said: “My nephew was made up, it was nice to let him have a photo.

“He made someone very happy by signing a brand new Liverpool shirt and putting persons name on it.

“My nephew’s face was pure joy that he got to meet him. People will always look and complain.”
