- BY NEIL LEATHERBARROW

THE long wait is over and local football is back in West Lancashire on Saturday, when Skelmersdale United are in action.

The first two pre-season games for Paul McNally’s newly promoted team are interesting ones.

Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit Lancaster City visit the JMO Sports Park on Saturday 2nd July; kick off 3pm, followed on Tuesday night (5th July) with an even bigger game when former Burscough manager Mark Beasley fetches his expected promotion challenging Warrington Town side to Skem for an 8pm kick off.

Saturday 16th July is a date that Skelmersdale supporters do want to put onto their calendar when League One Morecambe travel down the M6 to the JMO, it will be only two weeks before the Shrimps begin their league campaign so they should bring a decent team.
