Doors will be open to all at new school
Residents in East Renfrewshire will be welcomed to the new Barrhead High School on Saturday.
BAM Construction, the Scottish Contractors Group and BuildUK are hosting the‘Open Doors’construction initiative.
Open Doors takes place once a year and allows members of the public to see what a modern construction site looks like behind the hoarding.
People also get a sneak preview of what is going to emerge from behind the wraps.
Located on Aurs Road next to the existing school, the new 900-pupil Barrhead High School will be completed this summer.
It has been designed as a‘school of the future’, and includes community facilities that will be open to the public outside school hours.
Bruce Dickson, Regional Director, BAM Construction, said:“There is an understandable natural interest in buildings under construction, especially when they start taking shape.
“Open Doors was designed to both satisfy that interest and to show how different modern construction is in terms of our environment and the technology we use from many peoples preconceptions. We’d encourage everyone to take a look at both what we’re doing and how we are doing it.”
Limited places on the tours, which take place from 9am until 10am or noon to 1pm,
